PSCC’s Community Support

Our favorite gateway to Sonoma County

Our favorite gateway to Sonoma County

As PSCC moves forward with The Floathouse, we want to acknowledge the community supporters who have helped us reach this stage. Volunteer organizations like the Petaluma Valley Rotary Club, which allowed PSCC to have a booth at the first two Petaluma River Craft Beer Festivals and presented PSCC with a $5,000 check, to help cover state and federal permits.

For our part, we rallied local people-powered boaters to visit the Water Street reach of the river to inspire festival goers–in the middle of the day. (Normally boaters choose morning or evening for their practices…) The local clubs were all early partners in PSCC and continue to support the goal of improving river access for all: OHana Wa’a and He’e Nalu Outrigger Canoe Clubs and North Bay Rowing Club. Commercial partners on the water are Petaluma SUP and Clavey Paddlesports, both of whom give great classes (and tours, including Petaluma Marsh Tours!) and sell fine equipment to help us kayak and SUP both here and elsewhere.

Commercial, non-river partners include Clover Stornetta, Whole Foods Petaluma, and Basin Street Properties, which has helped PSCC to site The Petaluma Community Boathouse at its new Riverfront mixed-use development.

Who benefits from river access?

Wanderers, voters, birders, swimmers (sometimes unintentionally!) Cyclists, community leaders, water contemplators, kids! Picnickers, collegiate competitors, friends, mud-lovers, tide observers. Rowers, ecologists & biologists, canoeists, businesspeople. Hikers, fishermen and women, homeowners, kayakers, environmental advocates, fitness enthusiasts. Naturalists, coaches, photographers… and what about you?
