Greg Sabourin, PSCC’s executive director, recently visited The Rowing Dock, in Austin, TX. Located on the southern shores of Austin’s Town Lake, formed by a dammed section of the river, this body of water has a pedestrian and cycling path and several parks. Built on docks, this operation is a model for PSCC’s Floathouse. In an effort to make The Floathouse a useful and beautiful facility for Petaluma, we take note of how others have set up their operations. The Rowing Dock was neat, orderly, and does a brisk business, particularly in the summer months. Bay Area residents, used to being outside in all temperatures, should have an easy time getting out on the Petaluma River year round. Stay tuned for more posts about our field trips!
