12th Annual Petaluma River Marathon/Half-Marathon (2015)

Hawaiian Outrigger CanoeSunday, September 6th, 2015

7:45 am-12 noon, North Bay Rowing Club, 625 2nd Street

Since 2004, the Petaluma River Marathon/Half-Marathon has served as the West Coast flat-water long-distance championship. It is one of the most beautiful and fun races on the west coast. Hosted by Petaluma-based North Bay Rowing Club on the Sunday prior to Labor Day, it allows all small-craft users, whether rowers or paddlers, to choose either the half- or full marathon course (13 or 26 miles, respectively). Eligible craft include all flat- and open-water rowing boats, ocean or flat water kayaks, surfskis, canoes, SUPs, and outrigger canoes. Registration is through Regatta Central and begins around mid-August each year. The race begins in the morning, and a pot-luck is held afterward on the grassy area behind Foundry Wharf’s offices.

Who benefits from river access?

Wanderers, voters, birders, swimmers (sometimes unintentionally!) Cyclists, community leaders, water contemplators, kids! Picnickers, collegiate competitors, friends, mud-lovers, tide observers. Rowers, ecologists & biologists, canoeists, businesspeople. Hikers, fishermen and women, homeowners, kayakers, environmental advocates, fitness enthusiasts. Naturalists, coaches, photographers… and what about you?
